The Wizard Wall

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, A-Town Alliance hosted a special community event at Auburn Skate Park, celebrating the restoration of the beloved mural, "The Wizard." This mural, originally completed in 2010 by artist Olivia Pederson, was the first-ever mural painted at the skate park. Olivia traveled all the way from Telluride, Colorado, to refresh the artwork after it had withstood 14 years of weathering.
The event ran from 9 AM until sunset and was a true community affair. People of all ages came together to assist in the restoration, creating a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere that perfectly embodied the spirit of A-Town Alliance. Thanks to the generous donation of paint from Warehouse Paint, secured through a proposal we submitted, the project was able to move forward seamlessly.
A-Town Alliance spent a total of $535.47 from our checking account to support the event. This included $201.32 for supplies, such as hot dogs, buns, pickles, and other essentials from Warehouse Paint, Home Depot, and Harbor Freight. We ensured sustainability by freezing leftover hot dogs and buns for future use. Additionally, $81.22 was allocated to filling a community pinata, which added a joyful element to the day.
We also invested $252.93 in a propane tank and a portable speaker, both of which will be invaluable for future events.
The feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their joy and appreciation for the restored mural and the sense of togetherness the event fostered. We are excited to share some of the wonderful photos taken by community members, capturing the spirit and fun of the day.
Our deepest thanks go out to everyone who participated and supported this event. Your involvement is what makes our community so special, and we look forward to many more successful projects together.
